An interview with Globalpark consulting staff

Are you open to a new, highly interesting role, but wonder what challenges and development opportunities a career with Globalpark might offer you? We spoke to one of our employees about his work:

Question: What do you find particularly exciting about your job as a consultant for Globalpark?

Sebastian Kramer, Project Manager Online-Panels since 2005: “I am responsible for the technical organisation of ongoing surveys of consumer behaviour regarding specific product groups. For two years I have been working closely with market researchers in the fields of branded items and advertising and with publishing houses. On the basis of data gained, our customers often make decisions of major significance to them, e.g. whether new products are to be launched on a particular market. However, my work also allows our clients to gain an insight into whether an advertisement or a magazine cover will appeal to the target group or not. It is then of course something special to see the fruits of my labours in the form of television commercials and announcements live, and to be able to deduce why they appear as they do and not in another form.”

Question: What is the role of Globalpark’s software products in the implementation of your projects?

Sebastian Kramer: “I think that over the past two years, online surveys have changed a great deal in the market research sector. The demands made on our software have increased. The capabilities of our products have also developed enormously. For example, it is part of my job to check how a certain question should best be formulated from a technical point of view,

so as to be as attractive as possible to the respondent and to make the results as meaningful as possible during evaluation. Sometimes, special developments are necessary. In such cases, I prepare a client-specific package with our software development department. First and foremost, my job is to find a solution to the client’s problem using the available standards of our software platform and to recommend the corresponding optimum configuration. Here, creativity is particularly important, as well as software knowledge. I have rarely encountered a case of our being unable to meet a special requirement.”

Question: What development or ongoing training is available at Globalpark?

Sebastian Kramer: “I can always fall back on my own experience, together with routines and standards developed by Globalpark. But I am always having to develop my skills further too, if only because of the continuously changing demands in this sector which is growing like lightning. I learn a lot “on the job”. Fortunately, everyone is near at hand here. There are always colleagues that have been there from the beginning and who can advise me. With training and coaching courses, I can also deepen my specialist knowledge. In this way I can develop important skills such as how make presentations, project management and understanding technology. By collaborating with colleagues in London, New York and Vienna, I am operating on an international level more and more frequently. Our in-house conversation classes help me to keep my English up to scratch.”
